I know it's a Melbourne-based website, but 28 courses and 4.5 hrs at the number 10 restaurant in the world deserved a mention, at least! Forgive the poor photo quality, but I wanted to get these pics up quickly. Since Alinea is in Chicago IL, not Melbourne AUS, I won't write a formal review, but will make a few blog-style notes when get back. In the mean time, the photos below might give some idea of the experience we had at this once-in-a-lifetime restaurant. Was the US$950 price tag worth it? Yes, but only once. It was an amazing experience, mostly due to the creativity and attention to detail in presentation of the food, but if I was to ignore the theatrics and plating, then I think there are several Australian restaurants which stack up pretty well. More to come...

WTF MAN?!? You can't just leave it at that. And I know you'll explain it when you get back. But what the hell is a bacon trapeze? And that thing at the end in the glass tube? WTF is that?
Twice in a week, my mind has been blown. (The first time was watching Heston's Feasts. If you haven't heard of it (probably likely over there) then google it. It's awesome.)
